Sen. Bond, aka, Iron Chef
WASHINGTON–It will come as no surprise that Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond, R-Mo., is always up for a good food fight.
But the fare on tap from Bond on Tuesday night might not be what one would expect from Missouri’s Senior Republican Senator: Smoked Salmon Cucumber and Dill on Buttermilk Biscuit.
That’s the menu offered up by Bond and his wife Linda for the annual March of Dimes cook-off in Washington. Forget Iron Chef. This battle pits lawmakers of all political stripes, brandishing spatulas and such, against each other in a taste test royale.
Last year, the Bonds won top honors with their Smoked Ozark Trout, beating out the previous year’s champs—Rep. James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., and his wife—who made lentils and Cornish hen with a cranberry-orange vinaigrette.
