Obama to DNC: No more lobbyist cash
Update: The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee said they will continue to accept money from lobbyists and abide by ethics rules passed by the Democratic Congress. Although Obama’s decree has no power over them, the decision could put the Democratic congressional committees at odds with Obama and the DNC.
WASHINGTON _ Barack Obama isn’t wasting any time bestowing the ideals of his own campaign upon his party or taking over the Democratic Party machinery.
Obama declared today that the Democratic National Committee “won’t take another dime” from registered federal lobbyists or political action committees, in keeping with his campaign’s policy of refusing what some may call tainted dollars. PACs and lobbyists donate money to parties and often get greater access in return.
He also announced yesterday all future fundraising events will be open to the press.
Opponent John McCain hasn’t adopted any such policies amid assertions that some of his staff are closely related to Washington lobbying. Nor has McCain opened his fundraisers to the news media — perhaps until he hears about Obama’s latest tactic.

For someone who has never had an earmark unlike Obama who has had many earmarks to close friends and alliances, I don’t think McCain has to do anything just because Obama does. Besides, Obama has already raised $265,000,000 million compared to McCain’s $96,000,000. The Democrat fat cats have all the money so Obama doesn’t need any special help.
