Blunt is, well, blunt
WASHINGTON — Is Barack Obama qualified to be president?
This question was posed to Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri, a Republican leader of the House, over lunch at the Post-Dispatch bureau today.
Most politicians would shy away from answering such a question, or deflect it, or give an indirect answer – such as, “Well, I think John McCain is better qualified.”
Hillary Clinton learned that lesson when she said that Obama couldn’t win the presidency if nominated, eventually finding herself compelled to soften that by saying that she would have a better chance of winning.
In other words, politicians find it’s better to hem and haw when asked about an opponent’s prospects or qualifications.
Not Roy Blunt. Is Obama qualified?
“No.
“I just don’t think he meets the test of being ready to be president from day one.”
Being qualified, Blunt added, “is McCain’s biggest strength.”
The perception that Obama isn’t ready, Blunt said, is the reason “he has had a hard time making the sale.”
Now, there are plenty of rebuttals to Blunt’s assertion. Obama may not have been in Washington for a long time, but he’s had a variety of experiences, and done well in each. As for qualifications, his are at least equal to George W. Bush’s of 2000. And where did all their experience get Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld in terms of invading Iraq and running the war?
But you’ve got to admire Blunt’s candor.

The only way we can find out which candidate actually closes the sale is after the election. Republicans should be very worried about McCain closing the sale.
People will no longer be played for fools with these ones attempting to use the high gasoline prices and off-shore drilling as reasons for high gas prices.
Where does McCain stand on the “Enron Loophole” that The Republicans and their partner in treason against this country and its citizens, Bill Clinton sold us all out for?
Where does McCain stand on NAFTA that Republicans and their partner in treason against this country and its citizens, Bill Clinton sold us all out for?
I have always believed that Bill Clinton was really a undercover individual of the Bush/Cheney and big corporation element. The more that I have learned the more it all proves true.
I guess these Republican politicians and pundits think that people will continue to fall for their psychological games, including the game that they loathed the Clintons.
Also, Obama the elitist? Please, just look at McCain walking around in the grocery store in his almost $600.00 loafers (shoes). McCain is just another Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, he is the one shopping like he is the celebrity, Oops, McCain isn’t a celebrity, but he did marry well into the elite status, didn’t he?
Not being prepared for the Presidency certainly will not be the reason for Obama not closing the sale, if he indeed does not close the sale.
But, Obama will close the sale because Americans want change and McCain doesn’t represent at all “change”, just look at who his biggest mouth piece is, ROY BLUNT, what a joke of representation for change.
McCain just represents more of the same old, same old.
