Earmarks & the GOP Establishment

WASHINGTON—“Missouri Republicans are burdened with so many sins, what’s one more?”

That provocative charge comes from the conservative Wall Street Journal in a sharp-tongued piece taking the Show-Me state’s GOP establishment to task for its role in the governor’s race. Specifically, for supporting party insider Rep. Kenny Hulshof, R-Columbia, over maverick state Treasurer Sarah Steelman.

Author Kimberley Strassel argues that the endorsement of Hulshof by Sen. Christopher “Kit” Bond, Rep. Roy Blunt, and other marquee Republicans stems from Steelman’s attacks on “earmarks and self-dealing” and that she is “is threatening the entrenched status quo, causing her own party to rise against her. “

Agree or not, it’s an interesting read. Check it out here.

Thank you for posting this link. Steelman has the right approach. I don’t agree with her on everything, but she is a courageous person. I hope Steelman wins.

WSJ could not be more out of touch with this race. Take a look at the staff the Steelmans have hired… the very same folks that served our current governor so poorly, that he could not run for a second term.

Reformer… not a chance.

Yes the party needs a good cleaning and banning the Steelmans staff from GOP campaigns would be a good start. Should the Steelmans win the governors office
the same slime running her campaign would be in positions to totally destroy the party built by Danforth, Bond and Ashcroft.

Hulshof is in the mold of a straight arrow, John Ashcorft, something Jefferson City needs today.

Great article……….the elitist Congressman Hulshof is status quo. He hired all the filth he could get his hands on. His advisors are JETTON, ANDY BLUNT, John Hancock, you get the idea. Oh and he’s for Ethanol Mandates….of course he gets corn subsidies too..

There’s one big problem with Steelman: she’s in the wrong party.

You would think that ALL with the right heart and intentions, no matter the party affiliation, would want to rid this country and state of all the status-quo self-interest dealing politicians. People should be tired of the type of experience Hushoff brings to the table and want change. The Republican Party needs change and Sara Steelman offers the type of change needed for the best interests of this country and state.

And, because of the bad decision of too many Missourians and people in this country, America and all our states are in this present situation, even though Blunt has disguised this FACT concerning the state of Missouri.
To continue on in this path would prove much sickness in the hearts of people.

The people need to remember neither Bond, nor Blunt are the people. Hold on for the light that is about to shine on all the distortions. Wise-up Missouri.

By the way, maybe I’m stupid, but have ethanol brought jobs to this state or have it only lined the pockets of a few choice ones?

Shocking Missourians have kept the likes of Bond and Blunt in office for so long. Missourians must really think lowly of themselves because I know that the majority of Missouri regardless of being Republican are not a couple checks away from the poor house. Shame on Missouri!!!

Will we ever get it and become two parties who look out for the interests of the better good and ALL citizens instead of this ideal of ten thousand for us (self-interests)and,five for whats is good of the citizens?
