Former senator and two-time presidential candidate John Edwards was repeatedly quizzed on appearances on MSNBC this morning about whether he would endorse in the contest between Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Edwards said he respected both candidates, said Obama appeared to have nomination sewn up, said some more kind things about Obama, and eventually said he soon would likely endorse the person he voted for in North Carolina’s primary.
Here’s the interesting part: At about 2:13 in the clip below, it sounds like Edwards may have said “I just voted for him on Tuesday.”
“Him,” of course, would indicate Obama. Then he is questioned again and he evades.
NYT notes this at the bottom of a story posted today and wonders if it’s Edwards southern accent. Maybe he said, “I just voted for ‘em” on Tuesday.”
For the record, Edwards tries again and again to say whether he endorses doesn’t really matter.
You can watch the video below; it gets to the heart of the matter around the two-minute mark.
