NEWS FROM CHANNEL 5: Rebecca Wu, a news anchor at KSDK-TV (Channel 5), is rumored to be leaving the station to take a job with the FBI. Wu joined KSDK in 2003 after working as a reporter and fill-in anchor at KPTV-TV in Portland, Ore., beginning in 1999. She went there from Jacksonville, Fla.

Wu did not return messages and repeated phone calls Wednesday. Mike Shipley, news director at the station, said Wednesday: “There are some developments with Rebecca but I can’t go into the details. Call me back in a week.”

On the plus side of the ledger, the station has hired Ashley Yarchin to be a reporter. Yarchin, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., is rumored to be the niece of Leisa
Zigman
, also a reporter at KSDK.

Yarchin did a stint at KSDK some years ago, where she has said she “did everything from rolling teleprompter to off-air reporting.” She graduated from Washington University with a degree in Comparative Arts in 2002.

While earning a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University, Yarchin worked in Washington as a capital correspondent for KMID-TV in Midland, Texas. After graduation from Northwestern, she was hired as a crime reporter for the West Texas station.

She left there in 2005 to be a general assignment reporter at WLTX-TV in South Carolina. That station and KSDK are owned by Gannett.

Here’s an update for those who call and write to ask about Deanne Lane. I was at a graduation party for a friend’s daughter on Saturday. It was a purely social event. Lane, who is friends with the couple that was holding the party, walked in, saw me and left. She has not returned phone calls since she was fired from KSDK in April. I have no idea what she is doing at this time.

It’s a dog eat dog world out there when seeking employment. Everyone is pulling favors to help family. Bring back Deanne and get rid of Mike Bush or at least get him a new hair style, even Larry Connors looks better than Mike.

They, (KSDK) hired the Yarchin girl because they can do so many wonderful proms with her last name. Y-”ARCH”-in.

I hate to admit this but Deane Lane was the first (and only) time i ever had a crush on a reporter when i saw her at the VP fair back in 85. (hey i was 14 LOL). In relation to the story, i havent watched KSDK since Bob Richards allegedly killed himself. After that day, the laughter and the joy that was KSDK seemed to disappear and in my opinion, it never came back. Local news in this town is at best boring, at worst, just plain dumb. BRING BACK JC! at least he made sense (even if u dont always agree with him) and he made u tune in just to see what he was going to say

That’s nepotism to the greatest degree!

Way to go St.Louie.

Why is chief Kent Ehrhardt no longer and just a meteoroligist? Did they find out he had no meteorology degree. Only working half days means half pay. How can he get by on a 1/2 of his third of a million dollar salary.

I find it hard to understand why some of you people even bother reading Deb’s blogs. She saw Lane at a party yet didn’t harass her with questions, and Lane chose to leave. Deb is a GOSSIP columnist. She’s gossiping about what she saw. If you don’t like it, stop reading it! However, don’t tell her that she deserves to lose her job because that is just ignorant and down right mean.

Hello my name is Thomas Roever and I am inquiring more about Robert Schwartz aka Bob Richards.. Bob was a good friend of mine since I was 14 in 1981.. I would call him or he would me just to chat about things in general. His death hit me hard and I just want to know more about him since the time we did share was limited in the weather world. Thank You Thomas Roever
