BLOCK’S BACK: Jonathan Block, 25, is back in town after a few years in the Bush White House. Block, of Hillsboro, was assistant press secretary to Laura Bush.

Block, an ‘01 graduate of Hillsboro High School and an ‘05 grad of the Mizzou journalism school, went to work in the White House as a college intern and stayed. After working for Laura Bush, he traveled across the country on the campaign trail with Sen. John McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin as an image management consultant.

Asked if he thought he would find the Lou boring after D.C., Block laughed. “It was a great ride, but I didn’t want to stay there, ” he said. “I’m thrilled about the chance to be closer to family in St. Louis and to be back in my hometown.”

Later this week, Block will start a new job with St. Louis-based Accenture National Security Services. And next month, he’s looking forward to marrying a fellow j-school grad, Sara Alsup of Plano, Texas.

Alsup was a writer in college for Adelante, a Spanish-language newspaper, and for the Methodist Recorder in London. After graduation she taught fourth grade in Baltimore, Md., as part of Teach for America. Her most recent position was as academic director for Little Lights Urban Ministries in Washington.

The couple will get married at Lafayette Park United Methodist Church, followed by a reception at Sqwires on Lafayette Square. After their honeymoon, they will live in St. Louis. Block’s parents are Frank and Kitty Block of Hillsboro; Alsup’s are James and Lynn Alsup of Plano.

It’s a damn shame he didn’t hit Bush over the head with a 2X4 while he was there. WOW, how could you even work for that idiot. I wouldn’t brag about it. He also should have shoved a shoe in Palins mouth and gave insane McCain a good dose of ex-lax and sent them on their merry way. Lay Low Kid, the BS Bushes wrecked this country.

Wow, what intelligent posters we have(Note-please read with extreme sarcasm as it was intended)! Seriously, it’s fluff story-but so are all society columns- and the guy sounds a like good kid. The faxt that he is attacked by such people proves he chose the right course for his life. Let the condemnations of me begin now. Try your best out there, you basement dwelling mama’s boys!

Easy Libs! He can now sit back and let you guys spend a trill, only to raise the unemployment rate and create nothing, while paying those who wasted the money billions. Bush at least took over countrys with his money while obama did not even have the guts to ask them not to buy lear jets while in default. We could let the banks forclose on homes that never should have purchased with loans that should have been awarded. He could spend his time learning how to speak North Korean as Obama’s tail between the legs on everything is not working.

talk about poverty…2 journalism school grads hooking up?…are they nuts?…who’s going to pay the bills?…the national unemployment rate is now effectively 12-15% under president obama, who sees that as an improvement where he’s most recently from on the souf side of chicago…what’s the current unemployment rate of ‘journalists’ these days?…40%?…60%?…higher?…
