Going to the dogs at Kemp Auto Museum
DOG LOVERS DELIGHT: St. Louis celebs will walk their own dogs or rescue dogs — which are sometimes one and the same — down the runway on Oct. 26 at the Kemp Auto Museum as part of a benefit for the Companion Animal Alliance.
Cardinals starting pitcher Chris Carpenter and the Rams’ Will Witherspoon are honorary co-chairs of the fundraiser, which starts at 6 p.m. for VIPs and at 7 p.m. for everyone else at the museum, 16955 Chesterfield Airport Road.
Among those you can expect to see with leashes in hand are: Smash (aka Asher Benrubi, former longtime DJ on KLOU 103.3) with his rescued Golden Retriever; St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson with a rescued Dalmatian; St. Louis Blues rightwinger David Backes and his wife, Kelly, with their two rescue dogs from Stray Rescue; Stray Rescue founder Randy Grim with “Quentin the miracle dog;” Witherspoon with his own dog; and St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley with a shelter dog that will be available for adoption.
Companion founder Tracey Cain said Tuesday that there also will be a puppy up for adoption that otherwise would be euthanized. Cain says all the money raised at the benefit will stay in STL to help with rescues and shelters. She said the alliance has given out more than $80,000 in grants the past year.
