Head to the Victoria’s Secret youtube channel for behind-the-scenes footage and interviews with “angels.”

The show starts Wednesday night at 9 p.m. and although this is more spectacle than fashion, it’s always an interesting production to behold. It’s the opposite of a freak show, or perhaps the epitome of one depending on your perspective.

A parade of nearly impossibly perfect bodies strutting effortlessly in stilettos and wings that would make Icarus leery.

For better or worse, the event was filmed weeks ago and is just now airing, so you don’t have the anticipation of witnessing a spectacular fall or inelegant slip.

You can, however, marvel at the ideal of female perfection that for better or worse pervades our society — a bejeweled, barely clothed angel (there’s something about the idealized virgin with a sinner’s wardrobe that I could say, but I think you are already thinking it).

Last year, Seal serenaded a bevy (don’t you love that word) of top models so feel free to take a look as we await this year’s extravaganza at 9 p.m. Central Standard Time on CBS. He sangs his hit, “Amazing.” Very appropriate considering the towering architecture that these skinny ladies in bras and panties had to lug around the stage all while looking poised, flirty, sexy and carefree.

Or see the entire 2007 fashion show here. Including the opening with Justin Timberlake, who must have been a little intimidated, because his voice seemed a little shaky. A flock of nearly-naked beauties will do it to any guy, I’m sure.

This year, Usher does the honors. That’s him walking with Heidi Klum. The show was held in Miami and the annual holiday fashion show will feature supermodel Klum, and familiar Victoria’s Secret models Alessandra Ambrosio, Adriana Lima, Selita Ebanks and Marisa Miller, among many others.
