The producers and hosts of Bravo’s “The Fashion Show,” are ready to debut their copy cat contender vying to retain the audience for the successful Project Runway, which has moved to the Lifetime Channel but hasn’t aired yet.

This show will be led by Isaac Mizrahi, singer Kelly Rowland (formerly of the Beyonce launching pad Destiny’s Child) and the senior vice president for IMG Fashion (the organization that make New York Fashion Week possible, not to mention Milan, London, etc…) Fern Mallis.

The trio of host participated in a conference call today and here’s 10 highlights:

1. Spoiler alert. Isaac admits that he’s a cryer.

2. Another spoiler. The zany looking character above with the sway back, Zippy the human cannon ball type costume and riding crop above will be around for a while. His name is Merlin and he was described as “obnoxious.”

3. Isaac says that the show is not a Project Runway wanna-be, but I don’t think any of us are convinced.

4. The show is different from Project Runway, because the audience will decide the top 2 designs each week. The judges will then pick the best candidate.

5. There will be no food or flower challenges.

6. The top design will be on sale immediately on Bravotv.com

7. The will report from the workroom, but there won’t be a benevolent Tim Gunn character to give the designers advice if they seem to be heading in the wrong direction.

8. At the end of each show the will be an audience poll that will tell designers exactly how much the public likes or dislikes their design. For instance, “97 percent of the voters said they would not buy that dress.”

9. Aside from Merlin, many of the cast look a little insane. Isaac said that it kinda comes with the business. The nature of fashion design is to reform the way people dress. People generally try to lead by example, especially when they are young. Isaac said that designers generally vie for the title of who’s going to be the “biggest freak in the room.”

10. Who’s the bitchy judge? Fern said that the comment from the audience are harsher than anything the three of them generally put forward. Kelly will read select comments during each program and some were apparently so brutal, she was shaking  with discomfort as she read them aloud.

Program premieres Thursday, May 7 at 10PM

Here’s a rundown of the 15 designers competing on the series. Click here to see a short video introducing them all. You can’t tell if they’re talented from the video, but you can immediately detect the potential for reality tv tension, diva drama and crying-tantrums.
