Lose weight, benefit charity, get discounts on new clothes
Can you say, win-win-and… uhhhh… win?
OK, here’s the deal. Goodwill Industries, which happens to be one of my favorite places to browse on a lazy afternoon, has teamed up with Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating and some local boutiques to encourage St. Louisians to get fit.
And I will tell you this, nothing. Absolutely NOTHING is more stylish than slimming down to a suitable silhouette and toning up. If Angelina Jolie wore khakis and a polo shirt, she’s still look pretty hot.
So the good-natured capitalists have launched operation skinny jeans. I hate to tell them that skinny jeans are a little last Tuesday (thank you, trouser jeans and the perennially-flattering and always acceptable bootcut variety), but whatever motivates you.
Starting June 1, participants are encouraged to lose weight and then donate their larger-sized clothes which are no longer needed. Then they will receive generous discounts for new clothes at area retailers in reward.
The Skinny Jeans Program will run through July 31.
The goal is to help St. Louisans:
1. Lose 8,000 pounds (500 dieters losing 2 pounds a week for 8 weeks).
2. Donate more than a thousand pair of jeans (500 dieters each donate 2 pairs of jeans to Goodwill).
3. Generate $50,000 of new sales at area retailers (500 dieters each spend $100 on new merchandise).
The following retailers are participating:
CODI Jewelry, 9218 Clayton Rd., Ladue and 1066 Town and Country Crossing Dr., Chesterfield
Byrd, 8117 Maryland Avenue (Clayton)
Ivy Hill, 304 North Euclid Ave (Central West End)
Daisy Clover, 8146 Big Bend Blvd. (Webster Groves)
Pulse, 1644 Clarkson Rd. (Chesterfield)
The Time, 922 Washington Avenue (Downtown St. Louis)
