In the lastest post-pregnancy how-quickly-can-you-show off your hot body display, Rebecca Romijn appears on the cover of InStyle.

She shot the photo spread for the edition a mere three months after delivering twins.

Inside are the “first official portraits” of Dolly Rebecca Rose and Charlie Tamara Tulip, the new additions to the family of Romijn and husband Jerry O’Connell.

The kids were born Dec. 28.

You have to wonder how crazy the pressure must be to purge even the appearance of baby weight gain for an actress, especially one who’s blockbuster role involved walking around in a costume of body paint.

But the rush to establish that you still got it as quickly after leaving the hospital as possible gives me pause.

I think of the moms who feel compelled to make excuses and express woe about how they sacrificed their figure. I think of the just-you-wait-looks they give to females who might be on the baby track.

Even the adorable and lovely Shoshanna, the women’s wear designer who’s trying desperately to live down her brief relationship with a superstar comedian who will remain nameless, told me that she didn’t look the same as she did before her daughter as an excuse when I asked her about how her shapely figure was the inspiration for her line.

She said it as if to say, you should of seen me back then. And there was a tenable note of defensiveness.

To be clear, she looked pretty darn good to me, but whatever. It kills me that we can’t just be the size we are (within reason), no excuses. But that will never make it to a cover photo on a fashion magazine. Even as they promote, “swimsuits for every shape” and “sexy made simple.”

The only cover stories worth celebrating involve how to look ridiculously fit after giving birth to twins. And just in case you hadn’t noticed, she’s even still perky enough to go braless.
