The Leffingwell Awards Luncheon raised funds to benefit Forest Park preservation and educational programs. Staged at the World’s Fair Pavilion in the park, the event attracted 980 attendees.

Twenty hat awards were given out for the best romantic, vintage, couture, whimsicial and green (as in eco-friendly). The June 4 celebration had that theme of “it can be easy to be green.”

Sunny Glassberg was given the Lifetime Achievement award in recognition for her role restoring the World’s Fair Pavilion, which is a park show piece and stage for many special events.

The luncheon honors the spirit of Hiram Leffingwell. It was his vision that created Forest Park in 1876.

Thank you for your coverage and for everyone who supported, attended and volunteered for this event! Forest Park is being visited and enjoyed even more lately, with people staying close to home, and so the need to raise funds to help keep it well maintained is even more important - Thanks again!
