The voluptuous singer with a habit of dressing in scant attire more suitable for a swimming pool than a leg spreading, hip wiggling dance routine has a new business venture.
Beyonce and her mom, Tina Knowles have announced the launch of Sasha Fierce, a line of clothing and accessories inspired by her alter ego, Sasha Fierce.
You may recall her declaration with her last album, “I am … Sasha Fierce.” For those who haven’t been rapt with interest of the Billboard sensation’s multiple personalities, let me explain…
Beyonce claims that when she goes on stage she ceases to be the sweet, demure, shy, girl-next-door who doesn’t cuss or cook, she becomes a grand diva sex goddess who likes to strut her stuff like nobody’s business.
Well, that sexy diva now wants to dress your teenage daughters with a new back-to-school collection. Hooray! Black body suits will now give us something else to lament besides low-rise muffin-top inducing jeans.
The junior line will be aimed at the same market as the mother-daughter duo’s House of Dereon line, but it’ll be easier to market, according to New York Times, The Cut blog. It will coincide with her tour and be based on some of her stage costumes designed by Theirry Mugler.
The Sasha Fierce line, however, will be aimed at teens, pre-teens and the misguided adults who still consider that age range worth reliving.
Women’s Wear Daily reports that the line has already been picked up by Macy’s and Dillards and a few specialty shops.
As you’d expect, the clothing is body hugging, the jewelry is chunky, the shoes are stilts and the overall look brings to mind edgy rocker chic groupie. Mom’s everywhere are rejoicing.
I guess every generation has been worried about slipping down some indecent slope, so I’ll follow tradition and express a little exasperation over the trashy youth syndrome.
Of the black body suit, The Cut reports: “Nothing’s sure to wow an eleventh-grader’s love interests - and teachers - like BeyoncĂ©’s signature black bodysuit, which is the only outfit that can take a girl from second period to triathlon practice to a bank robbery.”
