Did DKNY take trend from fashion faux pas?
When I first saw the photo, I gasped…
But then I thought it was a little ridiculous for a teeny tiny model at a New York Fashion Week presentation to need Spanx.
But it looks a little suspicious, right?
Donna Karan’s spring 2010 sportswear offerings had the usual casual Americana feel of being rich, but not fussy.
The silhouettes were relaxed and the fabrics seemed light and breezy. Loved the borrowed men’s styling of the warm-weather suiting.
Yet despite the generous cuts, I’m sure many would be tempted to dip into one of the many, growing, widely available body shaper options before slipping into one of her garments.
No. And that wasn’t the case.
But I do wonder if this will be the new spring layer. The hot pink mini-tights certainly elevates the not-quite-all-business shorts suit. And the addition of the black trim-like layer to the cocktail dress is pretty once you get over the gasp-impulse.
DKNY was doing it for the aesthetic, but one wonders were the inspiration arose.
I have seen many a peek-a-boo Spanx at parties and even on stage (yikes!) I’ve always thought it unfortunate.
Now, voila! It’s stylish.
Spanx and it’s rivals should jump all over this and add some flirty spring colors to it’s typically flesh-toned and black colored body shaping closet.
If the models can do it, the general public can’t be farĀ behind.

A wayward soul from Las Vegas, Nevada, who now calls St. Louis home and believes that fashion is relative and capricious, but style is always in favor.
I hereby nominate the Peek-a-boo Spanx as the first offender in this year’s Turkey Awards - these are fugly!
