Free preview of Anna Wintour in “September Issue”
We here at Style File have 5 pairs of tickets to give away for the movie exploring the making of Vogue’s largest and most extravagant September issue in history.
The edition was 840 pages, weighed over 4 pounds and was thumbed by more than 13 million people in 2007.
Apparently some of the pages weren’t even advertising.
If you’d like to go to the exclusive Sept. 9 St. Louis preview (it opens officially on Friday), send me an email or post a comment below telling me what you think of Anna Wintour. Ice queen? Shrewd business woman? Fashion god? Overrated?
The preview will take place at 7 p.m. at Plaza Frontenac. You’ll be admitted with a guest.
I’ll email you, if you made the cut, so use a real email when you register to submit your comment.

A wayward soul from Las Vegas, Nevada, who now calls St. Louis home and believes that fashion is relative and capricious, but style is always in favor.
I think Anna Wintour is a smart and savy businesswomen. Yes, she may be shrewd and direct to the point, but look where it got her! She is the editor of Vogue Magazine. I think she handles herself well for being a huge decisionmaker in the world of fashion.
Oooh! I’ve been waiting for this movie ever since Jezebel.com started talking about it and showing clips months ago! Wintour often comes off as Queen *itch, but who knows how she is, really? Well, I guess all of her Vogue cronies who have to deal with her. :/
Anna Wintour, to me, is a little bit like Bobby Knight. (Wait for it . . .)
Many have been critical of her personality and her management style. But no one can criticize her “winning record.” She may rule Vogue with a cashmere-lined iron fist, but, whatever her methods, she has kept the magazine of luxury fashion relevant and financially viable in a market in which few have money for luxury fashion or even magazines. Her impact on the fashion world is undisputable. I have been excited to see this movie since I first read about it a few months ago. Even though I can hardly imagine that the filmmakers captured anything Ms. Wintour didn’t want them to see, the mere process of putting together this annual “fashion bible” should be fascinating.
She is fabulous! Extremely competent and savvy in her field of expertise. Vogue is the only fashion magazine I read.
I LOVE fashion but I don’t read Vogue. I can’t bring myself to spend money on a magazine where the overwhelming majority of the content is advertising. Vogue feels intellectually dishonest, too - but I can’t argue with its success. As Holly pointed out, Wintour has kept the magazine viable in a very inhospitable publishing environment.
Thanks to all who participated in comments here and emails and Twitter messages. If I didn’t contact you then thanks for playing along, but …
There’s always next time.
