From Azria to Kors, designers embrace destruction
The new wave in clothing is the artful reveal.
I blame distressed jeans … in a good way.
Looking to inspire consumers to invest in gotta-have-it finds, maybe designers are looking to capitalize on what works.
Most fashionistas felt compelled to trade in their 2008 denim for the latest 2009 skinny jeans with whiskered, tattered and torn looks.
Maybe the same will hold true for clothing.
Michael Kors offered up artfully torn… no… make that “slashed” sheath dresses and men’s crew necks.
Rodarte went with leather lattice work and distresssed, tea-stained garments that were described by many as “post-apocalyptic.”
And Max Azria (look shown above) offered up distressed evening wear with decadent cutouts that were trimmed in encrusted crystals.
Then Zero + Maria Cornejo (shown ar right. showed off knits with creative cut-outs for sprint.
