Lindenwood grad wins $30,000 prize package for designs
And the winner of St. Louis Fashion Week’s Project: Design competition (sponsored by Bakers) is Dragana Jovic, who designs under the label Jelek.
Hmmm… now why does that sound so familiar.
Oh, yeah, the recent Lindenwood University graduate just earned her masters in fashion design and her final collection was also a celebrated standout. She took top honors in the student fashion show in May.
And with good reason.
Her craftsmanship and attention to design elevate her pieces to works of art.
She creates the kind of pieces you’d expect to see at the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala in New York.
But her jackets and pants have a kick-butt silhouette that would make a statement in any city. The ensembles reminded me of nomads who are probably carrying machetes and swords on some quest to save the world.
These clothes are an action adventure waiting to happen.
For her both collections, she combined her native Serbian national costume with bold contemporary details.
Below you can take a peak at the raw footage of her finale.
The first video wasn’t uploaded with the correct ratios so it’s a little distorted. The view below will make the models look a little less long and lanky.

A wayward soul from Las Vegas, Nevada, who now calls St. Louis home and believes that fashion is relative and capricious, but style is always in favor.
Its awesome. This is really hot stuff here. I just came by your blog and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed browsing your posts. Thanks for sharing such a hot stuff here…
Her collection is AMAZING!! We knew immediately she would win! The detail was just stunning!
Congratulations Dragona! I agree with the posting, your designs and finished garments are indeed works of art. I am so happy for you and all the Lindenwood students who participated.
It is evident that you are proud of your heritage and have found a way to create fashion forward pieces that reflect this pride. I will no doubt be seeing your designs on red carpets and in upscale boutiques for years to come.
