Bad tattoos happen to naive people…

Ok, I don’t know how good the newlyweds Nick Cannon, 27, or Mariah Carey, 38, really are or aren’t, but this is just wrong. After a brief engagement, this photo first published by People Magazine shows that he has inked his back from shoulder blade to shoulder blade with his beloved’s very distinctive name in jailhouse curly-cue font. Publicity stunts should not be indelible.

I wish that his testament to love-conquering-all-evil-and-gossip inspired hope, but it actually just increases the tragic consequences of their relationships ultimate demise. Does anyone think Mariah and Nick and surive? Anyone?

But having said that I’m sorry. No couple should live with that kind of expectant cloud of doom. But for crying out loud, even Madonna put her “Mrs. Ritchie” sentiments on a T-shirt, not flesh. Apparently Mariah went tit for his tat with Nick’s name etched down her lower spine.

I wish I could pray for their lifelong romance, but instead I’m praying for advances in laser tattoo removal that will mitigate scarring. That seems more practical.

What with the short courtship, the lack of a pre-nup, and these gigantic tattoos, they’d better hope. It seems set for a disastrous breakup on a massive scale if not.
