The not-so-basic black
Actresses Sandra Oh, America Ferrara and Debra Messing in black gowns that rise above the basic and remind us of why black is not just classic color but a wonderful shade for creative extravangance. America resurrects a vintage gown for the occasion wearing a gown from a designer who often dressed the youthful phenom Loretta Young. It’s a great length and shape to be devoutly formal despite the length. It works well played with the just right handbag and couldn’t be more on point shoes. And all these ladies shine in the right hair for the right dress. Sandra’s do is slightly a finger combed up-do, America has a little Jessica Rabbit swoop and Debra’s flowing locks are a great match for the fairy tale gown and we love that she didn’t overdo it with jewels.
