The Rungolee Fall 2009 Trunk Show will benefit the planning committee for the much- anticipated Dada Ball fundraiser in the spring.

The ball is a gala, fashion-infused benefit for the Contemporary Art Museum.

This year’s theme will involve vintage couture and a few impressive celebrity guests according to Deb Peterson, so no one is likely to wear Rungolee’s very contemporary and flirty creations, but who wants to wait until spring to wear new clothes anyway.

There will be two days to take in the Rungolee sale:

Thursday, Nov. 12 from 5 to 9 p.m. it’s “girls’ night out!” and Friday, Nov. 13, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., all are welcome to browse and enjoy the collection at 943 Tirrill Farms Road in Ladue.

Rungolee is designed by Anjali Kamra, a jet-setting mom who says her style is influenced by “urban sub-continental roots with a global sophistication.”

Anjali trained at the New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology and is of East Indian heritage.

Yet her designs bear the influence of traditional Mexican gowns and shirts, as well as a variety of East Asian associations.

One of her prime goals is flattering a woman’s shape with rich textiles and colors.

‘Rungolee’ is named for a colorful medallion pattern that rural women in India draw or otherwise create on the ground from chalk, flower petals or colored rice as marks of welcome. The cheery colors represent hospitality and joy.
