Video: One man’s shoe room, yes, room.
It started with a love of basketball shoes in high school. Turner Seline, 25, of Tower Grove East, became enamored with colorful kicks in bright hues of orange, turquoise, yellows and blues. He matched them with T-shirts when he hit the courts, soon he became a little obsessed.
At first it was kind of practical.
He wore sneakers a lot on and off the court, so he wanted them to last. He reasoned that if he owned more than a few pairs, he could rotate them and prolong wearing them without wearing them out.
But he soon realized that the shoes made him happy. He couldn’t explain it, but he wanted more colors, more variety, more shoes.
Here’s a quick tour of Seline’s room with 217 pairs of shoes and counting…
We here at Style File think that the shoe love-obsession needs no explanation, but we’re glad that there’s a guy out there who feels the quicken heart beat and irrational gotta-have-it endorphine rush at a pair of lovely shoes.
My only question is why didn’t I think to convert my guest room into a shoe shrine.
His favorite shoe brands: Pumas for play and Magnanni (a brand known for handcrafted leather construction) for work day comfort and sophistication.
