3 national designers with celeb following hit runway
Designers who can tout celebs as diverse as the Desperate Housewives crew, Oprah Winfrey, Jesse Metcalf and Sarah Jessica Parker among their fans, flaunted there newest collections at St. Louis Fashion Week Wednesday.
Black Halo designed by Laurel Berman wins my vote for the collection I’d choose if I were being stalked by the paparazzi. This is a one shoulder version of her hottest signature piece, the Jackie (Onassis) dress.
This one-shoulder number in a miniature giraffe-esque print by Rachel Pally offered up another generation of Pally’s signature California chic but casual comfort wear. I don’t know if this is Pally’s mission or not, but she proves that beyond a shadow of a doubt, you can feel comfortable and look phenomenal (I’m in love with that word right now, so bear with me). Her collection, which now includes a plus-sized line, is full of long, flowing and short, fluid frocks that can be tossed on before heading out the door to carpool and then dressed up for dinner and dancing. OK, maybe not this particular piece, unless you’re auditioning for the Desperate Housewives of STL.
And to round out Wednesday’s threesome, Kinetix by Shay Wilson. There were items for girls and boys and the aesthetic was decidedly street. The graphic palette was stark and a bit gritty for the hipper-than-thou crowd who doesn’t flinch at spending nearly $250 on a hoodie and tee shirt.
