Midwestern mussel proposed to be added to endangered species list
The rabbitfoot mussel, found in both Missouri and Illinois, is now a candidate for the endangered species list, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced Friday.
The mussel has only been identified in about 50 streams in 15 Midwestern states. One of those is the Mississippi River.
Also proposed for inclusion on the list are: the Florida bonneted bat, and two rare plants found in Florida and Kentucky.
The Service also announced that four species were being removed from the list. They include two plants found in Puerto Rico, a shrimp found in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Barbuda, and Utah’s fat whorled pondsnail.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
I wonder how much this will cost our citizens when we find out we can no longer improve the Riverfront, or improve the city because this extremely important Mussel is in the way.
