Eddie McGee will remain the No. 2 quarterback behind Juice Williams on Saturday and will not be penalized by coach Ron Zook after being arrested in connection with an incident at a dance Saturday night. McGee is not expected to be charged and will instead be allowed to participate in an adult diversion program.

“If there was an issue with Eddie, there’d be something done,” Zook said after Wednesday’s practice. “I’m going to leave it at that. Eddie’s out here (at practice). As far as I’m concerned, the information I’ve gotten I feel very, very comfortable with.”

McGee was arrested for allegedly shoving a woman to the floor after he was poked in the eye. He is the backup to Williams but has played in only one game this season after being used extensively off the bench a year ago.

McGee does not have a criminal record.

“We have good kids. Sometimes they get in situations maybe that you wish they wouldn’t,” Zook said. “That’s life. Sometimes bad things happen to good people. He’s a good kid, and I’m not going to punish him for something I feel very comfortable with the outcome.”
