Illinois women expect stellar class

Much has been made of the recruiting class that Bruce Weber is expected to sign on Wednesday, but Illinois women’s coach Jolette Law might have surpassed her men’s counterpart after receiving a commitment from Destiny Williams.

Williams is rated as the eighth best high school player in the country by Hoopgurlz, a recruiting site for women’s basketball. She is a 6-3 post from Benton Harbor, Mich. She makes the Illini one of only three teams to receive commitments from three top-40 players, according to Hoopgurlz.

Other top players the Illini can sign starting Wednesday include forward Karisma Penn, who is rated No. 18 nationally, and guard Adrienne GodBold, who is No. 36.

The Illini are also on the list of four schools still in the running for Kelsey Bone — rated as either the #1 or #2 player in the country depending on which list you look at. If she were to sign Coach Law’s class would be staggering.

Thanks for the info.
