Illinois recruits all confirmed as signed
An athletic department spokesman at Illinois has confirmed that the school has received signed letters of intent from the three high school players expected to sign with the program today, the first day of the early signing period.
“No surprises,” said sports information director Derrick Burson.
The Illini signed small forward 6-6 small forward Jereme Richmond (Waukegan, Ill.), 6-3 shooting guard Crandall Head (Chicago) and 6-10 center Meyers Leonard (Robinson, Ill.), a trio that is ranked as high as the No. 3 recruiting class in the country.
In the latest rankings by the Recruiting Services Consensus Index, Richmond is the 18th-best player in the country, Leonard No. 36 and Head No. 59. Rivals.com rates the class No. 3 nationally and Scout.com rates it No. 7.
Illinois coach Bruce Weber will hold a press conference Thursday to comment on the class.
