StoryCorp and the Siteman Cancer Centers are looking for St. Louisans to particpate in a project that’ll focus on how parents with cancer discussed the diagnosis with their children. StoryCorps will be in town recording April 17 - May 3, at the three Siteman Cancer Centers, in St. Louis, West county and St. Peters.

StoryCorp records the collective wisdom of everyday people then archives the discussions at the Library of Congress for future generations to hear. Millions of people listen to the award-winning broadcasts on public radio and the Internet.

To be eligible for the project, parents who had or have cancer must be willing to share in detail how they told their children about their diagnosis. The child must have been younger than 18 during the diagnosis but must now be 18 or older and able to recall in detail memories of being told that their parent had cancer. Treatment at one of the Siteman Cancer Centers is not a requirement.  For more information or to sign up for an interview, call (314) 935-3768.
