What’s worse: getting bit by a dog or by a human?

I was just thinking about my dogs, Frankie, the crazy golden retriever puppy, and Miguel, the sweet old collie with sad eyes, and how much I love to give them kisses on the bridges of their noses. They’re warm and fuzzy and smell good in that wonderful doggy way.

That said, I sometimes have to ask my husband to please stop Miguel from going at his face like it’s a salt lick or some sort of taste-testing project. It’s kind of gross, but I can’t explain why, since I’m pretty sure a little dog saliva isn’t going to hurt anyone. In fact, it might help boost the immune system.

All this thinking prompted me to do a Google search for “dogs” and “germs” and that’s how I found A Moment of Science, which helps answer the question: “Would you rather be bitten by a dog or by a human?”
