Weight loss is hard on bones, but beans are good for weight loss
A recent study at the University of Missouri has found that the potentially harmful effects of weight loss on bone persist during weight maintenance. They recommend that “people planning on losing significant amounts of weight incorporate high-impact weight-bearing physical activity into their exercise routine.”
There’s one problem with that. Overweight people run a higher risk of injuring themselves when doing weight-bearing exercise. Hmmm. It’s a conundrum for sure.
Meanwhile, Real Age experts have found that bean-eaters weigh, on average, 6.6 pounds less than those who don’t eat beans regularly. Beans, they note, are full of fiber and protein but low in fat. In other words, they fill you up but are low in calories.
