Uh oh. Downpour conks out Nike+ Sportband
Midway through my 6.5-mile run this morning, the skies opened and within 2 minutes I was sopping wet. Shortly after that, when I checked the sportband to see how far I had run, it was blank. I found this surprising since most running watches are waterproof. In any case, someone (can’t remember who) told me that if you stick a computer chip that was exposed to water into a bowl of dry rice, it will absorb all the moisture and chip will be OK. So that’s what I did. Not just with the chip from the sportband but the one in my shoe, too. I’ll keep you posted on how that works, since I planned on using it to record my marathon training. (see earlier blog post)
BTW: Running on a warm summer day in the pouring rain (when there’s no lightning or thunder, of course) is fun. Don’t you agree?

you should have gotten the polar watch and monitor. it’s water resistant. that means swimming laps, and no rain outs. although you cannot be pressing buttons in the water or rain. check into it. for $120.00 you can get the one that sends you weekly reports about calories burned and all that (stuff). great for people who need stats.
