Cleaning road rash
If you were near N. Kingshighway and McPherson Ave. at about 6:30 Wednesday night and happened to see a female runner fall down, ahem, that would have been me. Of course, I scraped the palms of my hands while trying to break my fall, which required some cleaning. But it was minor, folks. Not a lot of blood or pain. Nothing compared to what my tri-athlete brethern apparently sustain during bike wrecks. Team in Training provides some good info on how and when to clean road rash yourself and when it’s time to make a trip to the ER or your doctor. This can apply to all athletes including ultra-competitive softball and baseball players who like to slide into bases.
