Does Crunch bankruptcy signal end to cardio strip craze?
Attention, cardio-strip tease devotees: It might be time to stop gyrating and put away those 5-inch stilletos.
Bloomberg is reporting that Crunch Fitness, the health-club chain with cardio-strip tease and pole-dancing classes, has filed for bankruptcy after losing about 25 percent of its membership in the past five years.
One source says the company was mismanaged, while a senior analyst with a marketing research firm says: “The fad that Crunch focused on is not quite there any more. They are middle-priced clubs located in high-rent areas.”
