If you lost your job this year and have been taking prescription medicines made by Pfizer Inc., you might be able to get them free starting on July 1.

Under a Pfizer program called Maintain, unemployed adults and immediate family members can get mediciations for up to a year or until they become employed, whichever comes first. There are more than 70 prescription drugs available including Lipitor, Viagra, Relpax,Glucotrol and Zoloft.

To qualify, an individual must have become unemployed in 2009 and must have been taking a Pfizer medicine for at least three months before losing their jobs and enrolling in the program. They must also lack prescription drug coverage and be willing to attest to financial hardship.

Applicants are being asked to complete a one-page form and provide proof of unemployment. The program does not require peope to verify income. Pfizer plans to process application within two to three weeks.
