There are now 17 suspected cases of swine flu in Illinois, according to the state’s health department. That’s up from nine reported yesterday. All of the cases are from the Chicago area. The Illinois cases include a college student from Ellisville who is thought to have contracted the virus while attending Loyola University Chicago.

A second probable case of swine flu is also suspected in Missouri, the Associated Press is reporting.

That case involves a Missouri resident who visited a clinic in Nebraska. The first case involves a Platte County resident who had traveled to Mexico.

The CDC has so far confirmed 109 cases of swine flu in 11 states.

and thes person was in chicago- so if he was treated with tamiflu he would no longer be contagious after 48 hours-

The cases in Missouri and Illinois are still considered probable. The CDC is only reporting confirmed cases. It will take 24-48 hours to know if the Missouri and Illinois cases are confirmed.
