Fitness Magazine releases 2009 Healthy Food Awards
Fitness Magazine has released its 2009 Healthy Food Awards. The list is comprised of packaged foods for people on the go who want to eat healthy.
Alas, my favorites, Peanut M&Ms and Dolly Madison Donut Gems (the crunch kind — see photo at left), didn’t make the list. Go figure. But Kettle Brand Baked Lightly Salted Potato Chips and Back to Nature Chocolate Chunk Cookies did.
The results are based on the findings of four nutritionists, who created healthy criteria for several food categories including breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, then looked at calories, fat grams, and sodium and fat content. They and a dozen staffers then taste-tested the top three to five brands of each food that met their stringent standards.
