Kirkwood School District cancels swine flu vaccine clinics
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
The Kirkwood School District announced today that it has cancelled the H1N1 swine flu vaccine clinics scheduled for later this week.
A bulletin on the district’s Web site said the county health department would not be delivering vaccine to the district, and that parents should check with their pediatricians about getting the vaccine.
Meanwhile, Lindbergh School District received 1,500 doses of vaccine and gave out nearly 900 to students on the same day as Kirkwood’s announcement. Rockwood, Hazelwood and other school districts have already distributed some vaccines.
Check back for more updates on the situation.

Proofread your headline on the main page, please. “Schoold” is not a word.
Is that all people come here to do? Criticize the editing/publishing? Who cares! You know what it’s supposed to say, get over it! This is the online FREE version of the P-D. Live with it!
Nope. As you’ve demonstrated, people also come here to criticize other people’s comments. I’m trying to help the P-D deliver a better product. What’s your excuse?
Mrs. F are you serious?? A newspaper is supposed to be error free, it’s their job, especially the headline. I guess you didn’t pass grammar school, or maybe you did, but probably not, because you have low expectations of yourself and this newspaper. BTW, they have a thing called spell check.
Getting away from the pointless sniping and back to the topic at hand…what happened that Kirkwood was left out of the H1N1 vaccine supply but Lindbergh, Rockwood and Hazelwood were able to vaccinate their students?
I’m trying to help the P-D deliver a better product.
Or prove your superiority?
What will happen if all of the kids under 9 get their shots (finally) and there is no supply to get their follow up shot??
My elementary school student in Rockwood has had the scheduled vaccination put off twice now. I haven’t received any official word on today’s scheduled vaccination. I had to ask my son if he received the vaccination.
I now read this, indicating that some in Rockwood are receiving it.
Horrible communication. It’s been very difficult to find any way to get my family inoculated. Hopefully vaccinations become more plentiful before we’re hit with the real thing.
From what I understand the H1N1 vaccination non-program is a clear example of Murphy’s Law (whatever can go wrong, will). First the vaccine manufacturers told the federal government that the vaccine would be widely distributed in mid-October. At that point, the federal government disseminated the information. Schools and other “mass immunization” clinics were scheduled. Some physicians also ordered the vaccine for their private patients. BUT, the vaccine manufacturers could not make the deadline so these clinics had to be cancelled.
Just for the heck of it, I looked up availablility of the vaccine on a national drugstore chain that has local clinics. Some of its clinics in Ohio had the vaccine
