Poll: Do you wrestle with holiday blues?
WebMD.com, probably the best medical information website behind Medline Plus, has a new depression meter on its front page, appropriately just in time for the major holidays.
Holiday depression is a mood disorder that can range from the blahs to the blues. Some of that has to do with seasonal affective disorder, getting blue when the days get shorter, and some is the down mood with having to live with living through the so-called fun, family and friends times when you’ve had very little of either.
The problems comes when it brings your life to a halt; you can’t work, can’t sleep, feel pains more intensely and feel sad all of the time even when there’s no apparent reason to be having a grief episode.
The questionaire is very similar, in fact more in depth, than the questionaire your doctor might give you when you complain of symptoms. It’s worth taking it and it may be the impetus for you to get help. Depression, at every degree can be treated with medication and counseling.

I've written exclusively about health since the inception of the Health & Fitness section. I'm an off-road biker, altitude hiker and was into adventure sports until a fall down a Colorado mountain turned my lower back into abstract art. But I'm coming back.
I erased this post because of its extremely poor taste.

Holidays are very difficult. For some reason this is a time I feel the most alone but yet I have family and coworkers around me. It is a feeling that I can’t keep up with all the expectations. I often feel overwhelemed. But, I keep putting one foot in front of the other and keep going on with life because the alternative would be to just give up. It is a feeling that is hard to describe but it is always there.
I am under the impression that you are making fun of a man who got hurt trying to give you fans a match for their moneys worth. If that is the case you should be ashamed of yourself. This man is not going to be able to feed his family for 6 months. One thing you are right this is your opinion. Everyone is entitled to one, (… portion edited for profanity …) . I am not a WWE and TNA wrestler, and I have no plans on being one. I am a man who was also there and watch the show for the most part I was pleased and I got my moneys worth. I been to AIWF shows and saw nothing more than back yard want to be wrestlers. If you are looking for highspots you should just watch WWE and TNA. If you want to see guys wanting to do there best and maybe someday make it to one of the big two then go to an indy show.
I’m not saying this is the total answer, but probably at least part of it- Dr. Kly Smith, author of Brighter Mind, has over 1,400 scientific references supporting his work on natural brain health. Among other things, he says we as a culture are under-consuming the specific nutrients that the brain needs to be at and feel it’s best. This made a difference for me, and it might for you.

I struggle with this. Usually it’s because of bad memories of a terrible childhood and alcoholic parents. I find the best way to help myseslf is by helping others. Volunteering is the best medicine. A hospital, shelter–all need help during the year. It gets me out of myself and allows me to experience gratitude for what I have.
