D.C. United on the move?

As one of the commenters on this link to Steve Goff’s blog item on D.C. United’s stadium troubles says, I don’t think D.C. United is going anywhere, but MLS commissioner Don Garber is saying that if one of MLS’ marquee franchises can’t get a new stadium deal, it will have to move. We all know what that means: St. Louis will be touted as a possible landing site — if the current ownership moves the team, you don’t have to worry about the size of a St. Louis ownership group — and some D.C./Maryland/Virginia government entity will have a last minute vote approving stadium financing. I think if any team ever moves to St. Louis, Kansas City or Columbus are much more viable options. MLS won’t kick itself if it leaves those cities.

KC or Columbus…would never happen! Come on! I do think you are right on the DCU move, Garber will definitely use us as a threat and then they will cave, there is already talk of other possible sights around DC.

This team is going nowhere. They are the best fans in MLS. I hate Garber.
