Athletica forward Eniola Aluko, in a conversation with England’s FA, said that her experiences in the WPS, including a summer spent in St. Louis, have made her a better player and one ready for the European Championships.

When asked what influence her domestic season can have on this tournament with England, Aluko responded: “I hope it will have a big impact. I already feel a lot stronger, a lot sharper in terms of game fitness.

“Because of the warm weather conditions I’ve played in during the season I feel I’m ready for any warm climate we play in out here in the summer.

“I hope I can bring something to the team as I normally would, and I’m sure all the girls who have played in America feel positive coming into this tournament.”

England’s first game is Tuesday against Italy.

Can we please talk about EPL starting or the MLS season. I’m sick and tired of the WPS and The Athletica Tom. You are a fine writer and would enjoy if something else was talked about!

I’m sorry I thought this was a St. Louis website not a London website. Also in case you haven’t noticed your lack of attendance is possibly one of the reasons we don’t have MLS. So instead of complaining about coverage of what we do have why don’t you support the local team. We’ve literally wasted over 10 years saying “MLS OWES US A TEAM” and it has gotten us nowhere. But if you wanna be left behind such magnificent cites as Seattle, Portland, and Vancouver then by all means don’t support what we have. All I can say is that I was there supporting what we do have and you can’t blame me!!!

JStats, Me not attending an Athletica game isn’t a reason we have an MLS team. I thought you were smarter than that. The reason we don’t have a team is because of the broken promises from Mr. Cooper.

We will have indoor soccer in 2010. Thats all I can say!

Tom. thanks for your great and knowlewdgeable Athletica articles. I look forward to any info you can bring us on the ladies and for that matter any other local team. I for one enjoyed going to the games, watching the Athletica on TV, and following the growth of the team and organization. I hope Athletica is around STL for a very long time.
