Sorry I didn’t post this yesterday, but I was hoping to find some video and didn’t.

Athletica forward Eniola Aluko scored twice as England beat Finland 3-2 and moved on to the semifinals of the European Women’s Championship in Finland. Next up is the Netherlands, which won on penalty kicks. Her second goal, England’s third, sounded pretty spectacular.

Sweden, with Athletica defender Sara Larsson, plays its quarter on Friday afternoon. Larsson hasn’t played since the opener.

From what I read on the Uefa site, it sounded like a one-woman effort. I would have loved to have seen that one for Eni. Big surprise that the Swedes are losing to Norway. Norway’s program was thought to have been on a downslide, while Sweden outplayed and defeated the US earlier this year at the Algarve. Looks to be Germany for the championship.

I finally found video of England’s quarterfinal match. I don’t know how Aluko maintained possession for that whole sequence. Part her great effort, part poor defense by the Finns.
