Taking a brief break from our spirited debate about minor-league soccer — looks like there could be some more news this week — we briefly divert back to the possibility of a future World Cup in America. In case you haven’t seen it, U.S. Soccer is asking fans in cities still under consideration to show their support through signing online petitions for their city. How much will this mean? I don’t know. If no one voted in Dallas, would U.S. Soccer say no to the Dallas Cowboys Stadium?

In any case, I’m told that St. Louis is trailing in the number of people to have signed on (or, in effect, voted). Some cities have obvious advantages: If you sent an e-mail asking everyone who had season tickets for the Seattle Sounders to vote, you’d get a whole lot of votes. In St. Louis, your option would be …? (This blog?)

So I offer this link to the voting if you’re interested in driving up St. Louis’ numbers. Though I suspect it’s fairly likely many of you are sufficiently plugged in to have done this already.
