Prior to heading off to Portugal for the Algarve Cup, Lori Chalupny and Hope Solo debuted Athletica’s jerseys at a fashion show in New York. (Stills may not do justice to how Chalupny looked on the runway.) The U.S. team, which also includes Athletica’s Angie Woznuk, begins play at the top international women’s tournament this year, on Wednesday against Denmark, which has reached the finals at Algarve the past two years. They lost to the United States both times.

Training camp opens for Athletica on Sunday morning at SIUE, where they’ll be having much of what could be frigid spring training. They’ll do some workouts there, some at Metro United’s place in Collinsville.

Athletica still hasn’t announced any signings, though they obviously do have players, twenty-some of whom will be on hand on Sunday. Nine players who figure prominently in the team’s plans — basically the international contingent and the top Americans — won’t be in camp because most are taking part either in Algarve or another tournament in Cyprus.

Any idea when single game tickets will go on sale? The only info on their site is for packages.

Funny you should mention that, because an e-mail just hit my inbox that sngle-game tickets for the opener will go on sale on Tuesday. You can call 888-STL-GOAL. No word on when tickets for the rest of the games will go on sale.
