Garber still committed to expansion

USA Today’s Beau Dure looks at the MLS expansion situation – I don’t think there’s anything new here — but the most relevant comment is from Commissioner Don Garber, who says:

“We still have a goal of announcing our expansion teams for 2011 by the end of the first quarter,” Garber said.

The league is not flexible on the $40 million expansion fee.

I don’t think there are many people who would think it’s some incredible injustice for the league to hold off expansion during the most calamitous financial situation in several generations. Maybe it’s the league’s idea of a stimulus package: Construction in Collinsville!
