Where’s your quick getaway?
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
It’s hot and gas is $4 a gallon. But you still want to go on vacation.
This summer we’re giving you vacation options that are closer to home. We’re calling them “Midwest quick trips.” We’ve got Columbia, Mo., covered, and this Sunday we’ll be going to Kansas City and Independence, Mo.
I’ll keep our other destinations a secret for now.
Where do you go for your “Midwest quick trip?”

Hannibal, MO.
Some will say there isn’t a lot to do, but my wife and I enjoy the relaxed, laid-back feeling.
We enjoy some of the restaurants, Main Street and it’s only an hour and a half away.
We’ve been married for 30 years, and have probably visited Hannibal at least 20 times.
Hannibal, Mo., is a great getaway from St. Louis. Right about the time you’re ready to stop driving, you’re there. Thanks for sharing.
We always enjoy the area around Lake Wappappello, and of course 3 nights in the Ozarks is a fun trip. And now everyone has free gas cards
