All aboard for day trips on a train - and bus

The American Association of Railroaders has some fun day trips lined up for July and August. This is definitely an all-ages event, something fun for the whole family.

Katy Depot Museum & Sedalia Tour
When: Saturday, July 26
How much: $118 for adults, $105 for children under 11. Price includes travel on two trains, sightseeing, depot visit and three light meals.
Distance: 350 miles round-trip
What’s on the agenda: There will be a morning departure from downtown St. Louis - with stops in Kirkwood and Washington, Mo. You’ll travel the Missouri River Eagle route through Jefferson City en route to Sedalia. Once there a bus will tour the town with time to see the Katy Depot Museum. Passengers are scheduled to be back in St. Louis by 10 p.m.

Summer Sunday Supper Mystery Train
When: Sunday, July 27
How much: $69 for adults, $59 for children under 11
Distance: 100 miles
What’s on the agenda: This excursion will depart from St. Louis at 3:45 p.m. with a stop in Kirkwood at 4:25 p.m. At the mystery destination, a full course dinner will be served.
Could this be a hint as to the destination? After dinner, there will be time to stroll the historic riverfront while waiting for the return train.
The group should return to Kirkwood by 9:15 p.m. and St. Louis by 10 p.m.
Spassfest and sausage shopping
When:
 Saturday, Aug. 16
How much: $59
What’s on the agenda: This one’s a bus trip from St. Louis to the Illinois towns of Germantown and Albers. You’ll get to experience Spassfest in Germantown, live polka music, dancing, everything you’d expect from a fest, including lunch.
The second stop is in Albers at the Behrmann Sausage Shop to sample and buy all the meat products you can carry.
The tour returns to south St. Louis at 4:45 p.m.
