Saturday’s Prairie Day at Shaw Nature Reserve
You can munch on a bison burger and boogie to Crystal and the Codgers from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Shaw Nature Reserve, which is off Interstate 44 at the Gray Summit exit. The event is family friendly with pony rides and pioneer games for the kids.
The weather threatens to be perfect.
Naturalists will lead walks through the 250-acre tallgrass prairie, which is gorgeous with the sunflowers and fall asters in full bloom. Admission is $3 and free for members of the Missouri Botanical Garden.
It’s a fun event, but, unfortunately, my favorite out there has been canceled. Harvest Days, which had Schlafly beer, Missouri wine and great entertainment, just got too big for its own good. Drat!
