IgoUgo has compiled a list of 10 mysterious destinations. They are:
1. Bran Castle in Romania, a fortress museum where the legend of Dracula originated.
2. Old Melbourne Gaol in Australia, an infamous jail with exhibit that include a collection of death masks and hanging beams.
3. Dilmun Burial Complex in Sar, Bahrain, where intertwining graves create a “honeycomb” appearance.
4. Fort Raleigh National Historic Site in North Carolina, where you can learn about the colony of English settlers that mysteriously vanished.
5. Siauliai, Lithuania, where a hill is covered with thousands of crosses of unknown origin.
6. Centralia, Pa., where a coal vein has been burning beneath the ground for nearly a half-century.
7. Hallstatt, Austria, where skeletons are exhumed, painted and displayed to make room for new bodies.
8. Waycross, Ga., where you’ll find alligators, swamp tales and an ancient Native American burial mound on Chesser Island in the Okefenokee Swamp.
9. Castlerigg, in Keswick, England, which consist of stone Druid formations like those at Stonehenge, only hear you can touch them and sit on them.
10. The catacombs of Paris, an underground maze filled with century-old bones.
