Hotel rooms going fast for the Obama inauguration
St. Louis Post-Dispatch
Make plans now if you want to attend President-elect Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration on Jan. 20.
Expedia has launched a new travel resource to help travelers plan their once-in-a-lifetime trip around the inauguration of the 44th President.
Expedia’s inauguration page features maps, airport information and helpful travel tips from local experts. For example, to save on travel time and avoid crowds, Expedia recommends booking hotels outside the city but close to Metro stations. Though many rooms will sell out fast, here are some properties on Expedia that still have rooms available:
- Hyatt Regency Bethesda (avg. $404/night for 1/15 - 1/21) - located directly above the metro station
- Holiday Inn Washington-Georgetown (avg. $295/night for 1/15-1/21) - located walking distance from metro
- Doubletree Hotel Bethesda (avg. 299/night for 1/15-1/21) - less than a mile walk from metro station
- Hotel Monaco Alexandria (avg. $442/night for 1/18 - 1/24) - one mile from metro station
