Tennessee Aquarium Exhibit Showcases Jellyfish
The Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga and Hunter Museum of American Art are teaming up to bring “Jellies: Living Art” to the city next month.
The special exhibit showcases jellyfish alongside glass sculptures inspired by nature.
Visitors to the aquarium’s Ocean Journey building will find themselves immersed in a world glimmering with six species of jellyfish as they pulse in specially designed exhibits beside striking studio glass.
The exhibit is designed to illustrate how the jellyfish and the art share common characteristics of color, pattern, movement and rhythm.
Blown glass by artist Dale Chihuly will be on display along with works by Stephen Powell, Cork Marcheschi and Thomas Spake.
At the nearby Hunter Museum of American Art, the jellyfish exhibit will be enhanced and extended by glass art in the Hunter’s galleries.
